Some interesting reading for you.Normally Urban Legends are grade A horse shite , about as based in reality as the average episode of WWE wrestling is (or whatever they're calling it now, apparantly one of the writers is a lad who grew up in Crumlin on the Southside of Dublin, or so the brother says,anyway I digress)
However I was amazed to read a while back about an UL thats true, well sort of anyway .Its the old doozey about the guy who fits a JATO rocket to his car , and enjoys a brief but highly eventful career (lasting all of 25 seconds)as a rocket car driver , before ending up as hamburger patty in the side of a cliff.
I've seen emails about this and I think it gets a mention over at the Darwn Awards. As urban legends go its up there with the shark attacking helicopters photo (check out blather.net for that btw), or the poisonous golf ball centre one.
Obviously it didnt happen as described above, (as its damn hard to write about things after you're a greasy smear on the side of a mountain)but there is a nugget of truth iin there. All is revealed at this site .Save it for a slow afternoon , as its a rattling good read.
Oh and not only does the guy get to be involved in his own private landspeed contender car project , he's also jammy enough to be a bloody good writer as well, some prople have all the luck......;)
